        The Main Journey of New York City Marathon 2019 started from here after completing two Half Marathons. But till now I never thought to run Full Marathon. I never dreamed for Full Marathon. Also, with the help of some of my runner friends Bilal, Prakash, Laxman I joined some running WhatsApp groups. I started getting lots of knowledge about running and motivation from them. Which helped me a lot during my New York City Marathon Journey.

 

List of 10 Runners

In the last week of Mar, 2019, I got mail from TCS Fit4life to apply for the 'New York City Marathon 2019'. I applied for this event on 05/April/2019. To apply we have completed any Half Marathon or Full Marathon in the last 6 months because we need to update timing details and upload certificates. I just applied for the 'New York City Marathon 2019' and forgot. After two months, on 19/June/2019, when I was sitting in office and checking my TCS mail then I saw one mail from 'Megan Wright' mentioning that 'Congratulations! you are one of our 2019 TCS New York City Marathon global Employee Contest winners'. I couldn't believe that I got selected for the New York City Marathon so replied to Megan asking is it true? Next day I got a reply from 'Megan Wright' Yes, it’s true and you are one of the winners of '2019 TCS New York City Marathon Employee Contest' and all expenses for this trip are taken care by TCS. Even after getting a reply from Megan, I didn't believe in this, so I checked with other TCS runners and came to know that TCS select globally 10 peoples every year and send them to the New York City marathon. With this news I was very happy as I never thought that I got selected for the 'New York City Marathon' which comes in world top 5 Marathons and its dream of every runner to run in such a big marathon.

        After two weeks we got the list of all 10 runners who got selected for the 'New York City Marathon 2019'. After we got the list of 10 runners Nilesh Velankar created a WhatsApp group and added all 10 in the group and we started discussing in WhatsApp group. I was very happy that I got selected but still lots of things were coming to mind like 'How to get Visa', 'I will get Visa or not', 'how to prepare for Full Marathon', I am able to complete Full Marathon or not as I started my HM in Jan, 2019. After one week we got another email from Megan, in that everything was mentioned in detail about the Visa process, Travel Ticket, Hotel Stay and also the link to join virtual training. 

        Now I got some hope and started dreaming about my New York journey. We had different training schedules for 20 weeks, 16 weeks, 12 weeks. I joined 16-week virtual training of 'New York Road Runner' (NYRR) on 15/July/2019. Also meet TCS Striders coach Prasad sir to get some running tips and how to prepare for Full Marathon. Now I had around 110 days to make my dream successful as the New York City marathon was on 3/Nov/2019. In these 110 days I need to get my Visa ready, get my travel tickets, get hotel accommodation, and main challenge to get time from busy schedule and prepare for Full Marathon, especially when you are married and having a kid.
