Petra, that lies half-hidden in the wind-blown landscape in
southern Jordan, is one of the world's most treasured UNESCO Heritage Sites.
Voted by popular ballot in 2007 as one of the 'New Seven Wonders of the World'
It was purported as one of the places where Moses struck a rock and water gushed forth. Later the Nabataeans, an Arab tribe, made it their capital, and during this time it flourished, becoming an important trade center, especially for spices. Noted carvers, the Nabataeans chiselled dwellings, temples, and tombs into the sandstone, which started color change with the shifting sun.
In addition to this, they constructed a water system that allowed for lush gardens
and farming. At its height, Petra had a population of 30,000. The
city started to decline, however, as trade routes shifted. A major earthquake happened in
363 CE caused more difficulty, and after another tremor hit in 551, Petra was
gradually abandoned. Although rediscovered in 1912, it was largely ignored by
archaeologists until the late 20th century, and many questions remain about the
city.

Today morning I woke up around 5 am, but was not able to decide
whether to go for a 21 km run or not. Then I finished my daily routine work
around 5:30 am and decided to go for a run. I dressed up and went down and
decided let's try. If pain continues, I will come back to home and if no pain,
I will continue my run to 21 km. With this planning I did some warm up
exercises and started running slowly, during the first 5 km little pain was
there so I ran slowly and finished 5 km in around 38 minutes. After 5 km not
feeling much pain so I continued my running and completed my 10 km run in around
1:15 hrs. Today I don't have any target, just thought of completing 21 km by
running with Injured finger. After 10 km I drank some water and continued my
running slowly and completed 16 km in around 2 hrs, for the last 5 km it took me
around 38 minutes.
Finally, I was
able to complete my 2nd, ABCR - 7 Wonders Virtual Marathon in 2:38 hrs, with my
injured left leg. Today’s Half Marathon was the slowest marathon till
now I had done. But I was happy that I was able to complete it.
