Chichen Itza is located in Tinum Municipality, Yucatan State, Mexico. Chichen Itza is the 2nd most visited archaeological site of Mexico nowadays. The Kukulkan Pyramid in Chichen-Itza which is known as "El Castillo" (the castle), is one of the seven wonders of the world elected on 07/07/2007. The upper platform is exactly 24m high. Apart from the Kukulkan Pyramid, in Chichen Itza there are many other archaeological sites to visit, all carrying traces from Mayan Culture in many ways.
Chichen Itza was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site two times first in 1988 and then in 2007, it was voted in a global survey as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Chichen Itza is presently named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, after a global voting via the internet.

The Chichen Itza is one of the 'new seven wonders of the world' and shows the early power and technology of the Mayan culture with the pyramid and is one of the major reasons many people visit Mexico.
The pyramid is more of a patriotic and publicity event than any other thing, and without any doubt, it is a wonder of engineering considering it was built more than thousand years ago.
Chichen Itza fell into a rapid decline in 200 CE, and Mayapan became the new capital. However, unlike many other sites, Chichen Itza never disappeared from memory, and the city continued to be revered and esteemed as a place of ancestry and pilgrimage into the post-classic period and up to the Spanish conquest, and even beyond.

Best Time to Visit Chichen Itza

The best time to get to Chichen Itza is at opening time, before the crowds arrive and the sun is high in the sky. Some of the private tours and small-group tours offer early access to the ancient ruins. At sunrise and sunset time on the spring and fall equinoxes, the corner of the pyramid casts a shadow of Kukulkan, a feathered serpent god, creating the illusion of a snake slithering down the north side with the sun's movement.

My today's marathon is on Chichen Itza Mexico wonder.

Today morning I woke up around 4:30. I was feeling good for today's marathon. Today was my 4th Half marathon of ABCR 7 Wonders Virtual Marathon and also the 4th virtual marathon in the last 2 months. After doing my daily routine in the morning I dressed up with my running dress and went down around 5:05 am. After reaching down I did some warm up exercise for 10 minutes and then started my today's Half Marathon. Today the weather was good in the morning with a nice breeze.

I started at 5:17 am, My first 2 km was very slow, for first 1 km it took around 8:30 minutes and next 1 km in 6:45 minutes and then slowly I increased my pace and able to completed my first 5 km in 34 minutes, then maintained same running pace and completed my next 5 km in around 30 minutes and continue my run with the same pace and was able to complete another 5 km in around 30 minutes, till now I had completed 15 km of my run in around 1:34 hrs then drank some water, changed my t-shirt as it was totally wet and then again started my running, till now I don't kept any target time to finish my today 21 k run.
But after completing 15 km in 1:34 hrs I got some confidence and decided to finish today's run in around 2:10 hrs and with this target I continue running. Today's weather was good so I was enjoying my run and not feeling tired even after I completed my 18 km of run which took around 1:53 hrs. But after 18 km little pain started in my stomach so I slowed down my pace for some time till I finished my 19th km. After that the pain went away and I continued with the same pace again and completed the last 2 km in around 11:30 minutes and with this I was able to complete my today Half marathon (21.11 km) in 2:11:10 hrs.

After finishing my half marathon, I did some cool down exercise and went back home. After reaching home I took a bath and had my breakfast, then took some rest.
Today was my 4th Virtual Half Marathon (21 km run) and 5th Half Marathon of the year 2020. Today I ran 21.11 km in 2:11:10 and this is my best and new record of 21 km run. My previous timing for 21 km was 2:14 hrs. I was feeling happy as today I broke my own record of 21 km which was created on 5th Jan 2020.
